Hugh Jackman takes brutal swipe at co-star Ryan Reynolds after revealing detail from filming Deadpool & Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has taken a swipe at co-star Ryan Reynolds after speaking about what happened during filming for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Jackman and Reynolds have the kind of friendship most of us could only hope to have but in a recent interview – a video of which was obtained by DailyMail.com – Jackman explained that although he loved shooting the film with his pal, he had ‘one gripe’ about the opener.

Speaking at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Jackman explained that although he and Reynolds were together for most of the movie, there was one scene at the beginning where Jackman didn’t feature.

“Don’t tell Ryan,” he began.

“Now that’s fine, I don’t need to be in every scene in the movie. But Ryan is a writer. And when I see the script, I see that the scene that I’m not in is the opening sequence which is a dance number to an NSYNC song by Ryan.

“I’m like, the one scene I’m not in has dance. Now Ryan, he’s very talented, but dancing?”

Jackson then joked that he wouldn’t be trying to replicate Reynolds’ dancing double, claiming that the actor didn’t do his own dancing in the film.

“There is no way I would try and match Ryan’s dance double Nick Pauley… because the guy’s like 25 years old,” he added.

During the appearance, Jackman then delighted the audience by putting on ‘the dance that got away’ with his trainer, Beth Lewis.

Of course, it seems Jackman was simply joking about Reynolds, especially considering the pair have always been good friends.

Last year, the pair spoke about their close relationship in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Reynolds said: “I would say that [ours] is like any relationship that is successful and works: It’s that two parties are rooting for each other.

“I’m always rooting for Hugh to score and win. I also know the infinite nuance of his heart and his mind and who he is.

“I can say first-hand that he’s a person who’s not just worth rooting for, he’s somebody who’s impossible to not root for.”

Despite their successful working relationship, the pair have previously explained that Deadpool & Wolverine almost didn’t happen.

In a previous interview with Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for Vanity Fair, they actually revealed that the film very nearly didn’t go ahead.

When preparing ideas for a third Deadpool instalment, and the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Reynolds hit a wall.

Shawn Levy said: “We frankly struggled to find a story that felt original and non-derivative of the other two Deadpool movies.

“It had to be deserving of the first Deadpool entry into the MCU, but also feel grounded because this is an earthbound, gritty, realistic superhero franchise.

“Ryan and I were right at the edge of saying to Kevin, ‘You know what? Maybe now is not the right moment because we’re not coming up with a story’.

“And that is the moment when Ryan’s phone rang and it was Hugh calling from his car.”
