Detective Who Investigated Tupac’s Murder Reveals ‘What Would Have Happened’ If Rapper Survived

The detective who worked on the investigation into Tupac Shakur’s murder has shared his thoughts on what would have happened if the rapper had survived the fatal shooting.

Tupac, also known as 2Pac and Makaveli, rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like “Keep Ya Head Up” and “Me Against the World,” which helped him gain immense popularity before releasing his iconic track “California Love.” Tragically, in 1996, his life was cut short.

On September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot after attending the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. He was heading to his record label’s nightclub, Club 662, with record executive Suge Knight. After the shooting, Tupac was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away several days later due to internal bleeding.

At just 25 years old, Tupac’s death is considered one of the most heartbreaking losses in the music industry.

Now, the detective who investigated Tupac’s murder has revealed what might have happened to the rapper if he had survived the attack. Greg Kading, a former LAPD detective known for his involvement in both the Tupac and Biggie Smalls (Christopher Wallace) murder cases, spoke about the potential outcome during an interview on the Mad That Podcast.

Kading stated, “If Tupac didn’t get shot and killed, nothing happens to Biggie. That’s just guaranteed. If Tupac had survived in Las Vegas, a lot of people wouldn’t realize his life was going to be forever changed.”

He went on to explain that Tupac would have likely faced more jail time even if he survived, as he had already lost a lung in the shooting. “He would have been a different Tupac,” Kading said.

Kading also discussed an incident before the shooting, where Tupac and his associates assaulted a man in a hotel lobby, with one of the individuals claiming that the man had tried to rob them earlier. The assault was captured on CCTV, and Kading suggested that this might have led to Tupac facing additional jail time, as he was out on bond at the time.

However, Kading believes that if the altercation at the MGM hotel had never occurred, both Tupac and Biggie would likely still be alive today. Biggie Smalls was also murdered in a similar drive-by shooting the following year, at just 24 years old.

Despite nearly 30 years passing since Tupac’s death, conspiracy theories continue to circulate, with some believing that Tupac and Biggie might still be alive, having survived their shootings. However, the first responder on the scene of Tupac’s death, Las Vegas Police Officer Chris Carroll, has dismissed these theories. He recalled holding Tupac in his arms after the shooting, with the rapper attempting to speak despite his injuries. When Carroll asked who was responsible, Tupac allegedly responded, “F**k you.”
